Cinemas in Glasgow

There are many places in Glasgow to catch th latest movies. From big name international cinemas including showcase, cineworld and odeon to some independent Glasgow cinemas.

Whether it be the latest blockbuster you are looking for, a independent short film, a classic movie or a documentary the huge variety of cinemas in Glasgow will have the ideal one for you.

Glasgow Film Theatre

Known more commonly as the GFT, this well established independent cinema offers a comfy and cosy movie going experience.

 

Gilmorehill G12

Located in Glasgow University and funded by Scottish Arts Council Lottery Fund and the Gifted Seats Scheme, an old exam and gym hall now seats 138 in Andrew Stewart cinema and 220 in a theatre.

 

Centre for Contemporary Arts (CCA)

CCA is a unique contemporary arts organisation at the heart of Glasgow’s city centre and vibrant cultural community.

With an eclectic programme offering visual arts, music, film, talks and performance, there’s always something interesting going on.
CCA in its 74 seater cinema also screens independent short, dance and documentary films otherwise unavailable across the city.

 

Grosvenor Cinema

The Grosvenor cinema is Glasgow's favourite contemporary cinema, based in the cobbled Ashton Lane in Glasgow's Hillhead.

Showcase Glasgow

Located in the barrbridge leisure centre (take the A752 exit off the M8 motorway), the Showcase East Cinema Complex has a total of 14 screens. Located nearby are bowling facilies, an arcade and several Restaurants.


 

Odeon Glasgow Quay

The Odeon Springfield Quay is part of a new complex shared with a Casino, an Hotel and a variety of good restaurants and with the added convenience of a multi-storey car park.

 

Cineworld Parkhead Forge

The cineworld Parkhead is located in the Forge shopping Centre, ideal to catch a movie after a long day shopping or dining at one of the many restaurants. It has 7 screens, Screen 1 - 434 seats, 2 - 434, 3 - 322, 4 - 260, 5 - 208, 6 - 144, 7 - 132 seats.

 

Cineworld Glasgow Renfrew Street

Glasgow Renfrew street seats around 4,300 in total over 18 screens, the largest of which seats 663, the smallest 84. The largest screen is 18.4m x 8.4m (60 feet x 27 feet, 2.2:1 ratio approx.) The screens are all wall to wall and floor to ceiling, with no tabs or masking.
