The Gallery of Modern Art

Home > Attractions > The Gallery of Modern Art

GoMA is the second most visited contemporary art gallery outside London. It offers a thought-provoking programme of temporary exhibitions and workshops. GoMA displays work by local and international artists. It also addresses contemporary social issues through its major biannual projects.

The Gallery of Modern Art opened in 1996 and is housed in an elegant, neo-classical building in the heart of Glasgow city centre. The building was refurbished to house the city's contemporary art collection, and is an appealing combination of old and new architecture. It incorporates a number of artists' commissions.

Having enthralled and inspired several million visitors since opening, the Gallery continues to evolve, developing existing and attracting new audiences. The rooftop cafe has now changed into a dedicated  Education and Access studio, facilitating workshops and artists talks for all ages.
