The Open Museum takes Glasgow Museums' collections beyond the museum walls and out into the community. The Open Museum has many reminiscence kits, object handling kits and exhibitions available for loan. This free service allows Glasgow's citizens to borrow museum objects and create their own displays.
Among the 4,000 objects we have to offer, you will find a hippo skull, a triple mousetrap and an ancient Egyptian necklace! These can be borrowed free of charge by groups, venues and community event organisers in Glasgow.
We also work in partnership with community groups to produce exhibitions using museum objects. Our staff are always ready to offer advice and support. So if you want to find out about borrowing a reminiscence kit or have a great idea for an exhibition, please get in touch.
